Data Mining Sculpture
Graphic Design 4
February 2017
This is part of a series of designs I created on the theme of privacy and surveillance.
My 3D project is a multi-layered sculpture that represents the idea of data mining to create an electronic profile. Based on the idea of strip mining, the style is reminiscent of a topographic map, and the overall shape shows a user profile silhouette that has been peeled apart. The layers underneath reveal different types of data that companies can access, including call history, GPS data, and sensitive medical and financial data.
